This season has been full of many challenges, but many things to be thankful for as well. In thinking about this post and what magical gift I could bestow upon you, my thoughts could not help but drift to the scene in Sleeping Beauty where the fairies each bestow a gift upon the young princess as she slept in her crib as a babe. What gift would I give if that were me hovering there, wings too small for my not so sparse frame? What great insight could I offer?
My gift to you, my wonderful friends, shall be threefold.
1. Body- My gift to you would be health of body. Without our health, what do we have? After living through a cancer scare in the early part of this year, I can appreciate this gift.
2. Soul- Take the time to listen to some music that soothes your soul. As I write this, I am listening to Michael Brant DeMaria's Bindu album. It is as lovely as the cup of tea I am drinking from the incomparable Worts and Cunning Apothecary.
3. Spirit- On days (often of late) when I am running myself ragged at work and come home to do more of the same for holiday preparations, or dryers that feel the need to throw snowballs of lint in my face as I am standing on a very tall ladder outside my house in the freezing cold waiting to see if the air is coming out while my husband blows the line out with the leaf blower, I have to remind myself that a little centering is in order. My gift to you is this-may you be centered in yourself. I picture myself as a tree, arms held up to the sky, feet planted firmly in the soil, soaking up the healing energy of the earth. Even in the midst of the chaos swirling around me, I try to bring myself back to where things make sense-to the center. If you can do that, you can get through anything.
May your Yuletide be full of joy. May you be the bearer of good things to the people in your life and may they bring you happiness as well.
Thank you for being a part of mine. I treasure the friendships created here, both new and old.
This is an awesome post. Blessed Yule!

ReplyDeleteDana, thank you for your awesome gifts, health of Body is something I need so very much. I know there are things that can not be fixed, but surely I need to power of the goddesses and gods to keep anything from getting worse, or for any other to befall my body. I have been working on my soul a lot lately, so your gift is working!
