1. How did you get started in music?
I started playing music and singing in chorus in Grade School.
2. What are some of your musical influences?
Led Zeppelin, Nina Simone, Stevie Nicks, Janis Joplin, Shawna Carol, Jana Runnalls
3. Are you a reader? What books have had the most influence on your work?
I am an avid reader, and read a lot of mythology, which influence my work. I’ve also written Morgana, which was inspired by The Mists of Avalon.
I’d have to say that my favorite book dealing with history of the Divine Feminine is Layne Redmond’s “When The Drummers Were Women”.
4. What album are you currently working on?
I’m working on “The Ancient Ones”, a CD of song and chant inspired by Mythology
5. How does mythology relate to your work?
I am inspired by Myth and like to tell the stories with my music. I’ll take a concept or piece of a myth and expand upon it. I have a number of songs or chants where I have done this ie:
Morgana, Freya, Brighid, Kali, The Horned God and more.
6. What is one of your favorite autumn memories?
Raking the yard and putting the gardens to sleep with my Mom and Grandmother
7. What is your favorite witch in books or movies?
Jesus from HBO’s True Blood was a mighty impressive Brujo
Hermione Granger from Harry Potter
8. Do you write your songs yourself or do you collaborate with the band?
I write my own songs and I also record songs from friends of mine who are amazing writers, but not performers.
I have done some collaborating and co-authorship in the past as well. When recording, I enlist my musician friends to help me
by doing sessions in the studio.
9. What is one thing you would like listeners to get from your music?
A way to connect to Spirit through the music, whether it be a chant or song from Mythology or inspired by the energy of a Sacred Site.
10. What direction do you see your work going?
I’m pretty happy with the success of my Mythology inspired music and see myself doing lots more of this type of work in the future. I also have a collection of traditionals that I am planning to record. I’m calling it “Tradition”, and will be doing classics from many different traditions, ie: Irish, British, Native American, Appalachian, Southern Spiritual and more.
